I had a dream last night

the air was clear as glass
we sunned ourselves like royal beasts
in the tender grass
then we drowsed and dozed in the grass

And the birds sang a feathery opera
and the butterflies fluttered by

under a luminous sky

and at the very same moment
both of us spoke, and we said—
